Product Rewards & Ink Cartridge Update

Just a friendly reminder, it’s that time of year again for us to begin collecting Box tops, Campbell soup labels, Tyson chicken A+ 1-2-3 tabs and ink cartridges.  Our first contest has already begun and will end on February 22, 2010.

Following these guidelines will make it more efficient for us to send in the labels and get “quick” money for our school.

  •  Please place all items in a clearly labeled zip-loc bag or envelope.  Including the student’s name and teacher’s name on the zip-loc bag will ensure that the proper class will get credit towards the contest.
  • For Box Tops, cut out the labels along the dotted lines, and include the expiration date.
  • For the Campbell soup labels we need the UPC code from the back, which includes the Campbell’s Label for Education Logo. Please don’t send in the whole label.
  • Parents please send collected items into class with your student or drop off items at the pop-up Campbell’s container located in front of the school office.
  • Each item received will count as 1 point.
  • Classes with the most points will receive:

1st place class will win a PIZZA PARTY!

2ND place class will win a $30.00 gift card!

3rd place class will win a $20.00 gift card!

Gift cards will be used to purchase new games for indoor recess.

Currently, Mrs. Rodriguez is in 1st place, Mrs. Salapack is in 2nd place, and

Mrs. Burley’s T/R class is in 3rd place.  The classes are so close!!  It’s anyone’s game, so don’t give up, please continue clipping. Remember you could win, no matter when you send them in!! So, send them in TODAY and see if Mrs. Rodriguez’s class can hold the 1st place spot!!!

Thanks!! ….Andrea Seay and Heidi Harsh (Co-Chairs, Product Rewards/Recycling)

CATALOG AND MAGAZINE TOWER RESULTS…

AND THE WINNER IS……..

Mrs. Kiner’s Class!!!

They had the TALLEST Catalog and Magazine Tower with a height of 327 inches. The entire school did an exceptional job!! We collected enough, to reach a height of 2,551 inches or 212 feet 7 inches. This is taller than 5 ½ school buses lined up from BUMPER TO BUMPER!! Thank you to everyone who made this contest possible, and enthusiastic for the kids!!! Thank you to the students for a great job and in celebration of a job well done, the entire school received a ‘popcorn snack’ during their lunch period, Friday, December 11, 2009. Mrs. Kiner’s class was also awarded a certificate to hang proudly in their room for a job well done!! Please see the chart below to find out how much your class collected. GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!

LET’S GIVE THEM A STANDING OVATION FOR ALL THEIR HARD WORK AND HELP!!! BRAVO!!!

 Catalog & Magazine Tower Results

I would like to thank all of the special helpers who volunteered their time with the contest.  They emptied so many large trash cans, we lost track of the number!! Thanks goes out to Maddie Gwinn, Vickey Gwinn, Owen Harsh, Ethan Harsh, Heidi Harsh, Maxwell Seay, Peyton Seay, Andrea Seay, Curtis Falke and Gary Forney.  Wow!! What an awesome job you did!! Think Green!!!

Please help the PTO raise money for our kids!! Simply put your used cell phones, inkjet or laser cartridge in a baggie, and send them in with your child to school. Please put your child’s name and teacher’s name on the baggie. We’ll do the rest!!

Ronald McDonald House

Collect Those Aluminum Pull Tabs!

We have found another simple way to be of service to our community and our environment. You may have noticed a small red-roofed "house" on our front counter in the foyer. This is a collection box for aluminum pull tabs that will benefit the Ronald McDonald House. As you may know, the Ronald McDonald House is a residence for families whose children are undergoing treatment at Children’s Hospital. The money raised from the recycling of the pull tabs allows families to stay at the Ronald McDonald House for free or at little cost.

The tabs can come from pop cans, soup cans, pet food cans – any aluminum tab will work. If you have any questions or would like further information, please contact Jill Shimp at 740-548-6107.
